Are important members of our Church family missing?

Did you know that roughly 1 in 4 Canadians identify as having a dis/ability? In British Columbia, that number is closer to 3 in 10 residents.

And yet, when we look around our churches, we often don’t see these numbers reflected in our congregations.

The question isn’t if people with dis/abilities are part of our communities. The question is when they will walk through our doors—and whether they will find a place where they can truly belong.

Many churches are now working to adapt ministries that weren’t originally designed with dis/ability in mind. It can feel like trying to retrofit something after it has already been built.

And let’s be honest—that can be challenging.

But it’s also an opportunity.

The Lazarus Centre wants to help churches move from simply responding to dis/ability to intentionally creating spaces where people with dis/abilities can belong, participate, serve, and flourish.

That’s why we’re offering a free monthly ministry cohort for churches.

We believe finances shouldn’t be a barrier to accessing support, learning, and practical tools for inclusion.

Because people with dis/abilities aren’t an extra ministry to add.

They are already part of the body of Christ.

And our churches are stronger when everyone has a place at the table.
